WhittleTykes E-zine - ages 3-6

We are a new magazine and plan to publish our first issue in 2008.  Though we won't be published for awhile, we are accepting submissions now!  The goal of our magazine is to create a place where children can play and learn, while spending time with their families online.  We also strive to help new writers/illustrators gain the credentials and experience needed to further their careers.  Though we favor new writers/illustrators, that doesn't mean we don't expect professional materials.

Please read our guidelines carefully. We will not accept any manuscript that doesn't adhere to these guidelines! We accept e-mail submissions only. Please no attachments unless you're an illustrator or submitting photos to accompany an article.

E-mail your materials to: submissions@whittlewould.org

Editor in Chief: Ebony L. Perkins

Every issue is based around a theme.

We don't provide descriptions of upcoming themes because we want to see all the different ways writers can look at one subject.  There is no right or wrong answer. Just write a manuscript by what the theme means to you, and have fun!

*Note - Some of our spots are Full, but feel free to submit anyway. We will consider ALL submissions submitted before our deadlines.*

All manuscripts must be doubled spaced. Include your name, email address, and word count. We accept e-mail submissions only. Please send complete ms. Responds in 1-4 weeks. No attachments unless you're an illustrator or submitting photos to accompany an article. No violence please. We want to teach children positive messages and fun facts about the world around them, please keep that in mind when submitting.

Fiction
Read-aloud stories, adventure, mystery, animal, humorous, and problem-solving. Up to 350 words. Character driven stories that early readers will be able to relate to. Send complete manuscript in the body of your e-mail. No attachments! If we receive attachments that aren't illustrations, we will not open it.

Nonfiction
(WE ARE IN NEED OF ARTICLES!)
Articles should be fun and exciting, not just listing facts. How-to and informational articles, and personal experience pieces. Up to 350 words. Please included a bibliography with each submission. Including a recipe or activity with your stories or articles will increase your chance of publication. We will always need them.

Illustrators

All material is assigned. Please let us view some of your best artwork. If we believe your artistic style fits our magazine we will assign you a project.

Payment

WhittleTykes is a nonprofit publication. There is no monetary payment for writers or illustrators. This magazine is to help new writers/illustrators gain publishing credentials and experience to help them further their careers. We will always publish a new writer/illustrator over a more experienced one.

Electronic Rights

We acquire the right to publish your work for the first time. After the issue is no longer available, you are free to publish your work elsewhere. (Each issue is available for a two month period.) All other rights, including the reprint rights, belong to you.
